Private lessons are generally half an hour to an hour long, and can range in price considerably. Prices will vary according to the location of the teacher, their experience, and accolades. Depending on the location and the teacher’s experience, you may pay $30/hr or you may pay over $300. But which coach is right for you?

Singing Lessons NYC

When looking for a teacher, it’s important to consider where you are and where you’re looking to go. If you are a beginner that’s looking to have fun, then you don’t need to pay for the most expensive voice lessons. However, if you’re an intermediate singer looking to go pro, you may want to invest more into your future career choice.

Vocal coaches often times price their lessons according to demand and skill level. So while it’s not always true, it’s common that more expensive teachers are better. However, this levels off at some point.

For example, paying over $150 an hour for voice lessons likely means that the teacher is super busy and has to charge accordingly. Do they get great results? Likely yes. But, are they that much better than the a similar teacher at a $100-$150 price point? Only you can be the judge of that.

That said, especially in NYC, a great voice teacher should have no problem at all charging $100-$200/hr based off of referrals alone.
