If you’re looking for some tips on how to teach voice lessons for kids, read this article. To me, there are two main goals when teaching kids singing lessons: progress vocally & having fun!

Below are some of the most important tips to remember when teaching singing lessons for kids. We hope that they’ll help you give your child clients the best singing experience possible!

Warm-ups

To get your child used to the sounds of singing, consider using some simple vocal exercises. Ideally you want to work on things like connection, breath support, and improving tone. But do all of this while helping them have fun and being silly.

The less serious you can make it, the better. Just sneak in what you’re doing here and there so that you help them understand what’s going on.

Singing Songs

You want to make sure that your kids are working on music that they enjoy, but will also help them improve. You probably also need to find multiple songs like this, as many kids get distracted easily.

I also strike bargains in lessons. Let’s work on this song that I selected for you now, and if we do, we’ll spend the last 10 minutes singing the song you want to work on.

Adapting to & Expanding Your Student’s Musical Tastes

While it’s important to have an idea of what your student likes, the first step to teaching them how to sing is to figure out what songs they enjoy. While you should never limit your student’s choice, you should try to broaden their musical horizons by introducing them to different styles of songs.

When planning your lesson, be sure to make time to connect with your student’s parents and understand their situation.
